Welcome to the website of Leek Town Council, which aims to keep people informed about the services of the Town Council, as well as promoting town events and activities.
The busy market town of Leek, which has a population of around 20,000, is situated in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands and is known locally as the "Queen of the Moorlands". As well as being famous for its antique shops, Leek has a thriving weekly, indoor and outdoor market on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and a renowned Fine Food market on the third Saturday in the month.
Leek Town Council is made up of twelve councillors who are elected to office every four years. At the helm of the council is the Leek Town Mayor who is appointed for a twelve- month term and the current Mayor is Cllr. Brian Johnson. Our responsibilities include the maintenance of seven allotment sites, three War Memorials, Ball Haye Green Recreation Ground, the Christmas lights, summer flower baskets, street furniture and various town centre events.

The newly appointed Leek Town Mayor, is Cllr. Brian Johnson, who was born and educated in Leek. At the Town Council's annual meeting, Cllr. Johnson pledged to work hard during his twelve-month term of office and would raise money for local Leek charities. " I am looking forward to the year ahead, although Robert and Joan will be a hard act to follow." For the past 29 years Brian has owned Photoprint on Haywood Street and has recently purchased a local livery yard. As well as being a Town and District Councillor, Brian is also President of the Leek Chamber of Trade and Commerce. Cllr. Johnson takes over the civic chain of office from Cllr. Robert Plant who over the past year has attended 250 engagements with his wife Joan and raised £7,200 for local charities.
